About

The midnight hausfrau is naturally an atypical housewife.

She doesn’t really fancy doing real household chores.

She’s up at midnight in the kitchen not cleaning or tidying up but furiously beating eggs up and folding flour in.

As a result of a love for customisation and virtue of pinching pennies, she’s forever trying to start or finish one DIY craft project or another.

The birth of her daugher in 2010 also meant that she spends an insane amount of time doing things related to children.

The midnight hausfrau loves to share and this blog is all about sharing tidbits from her personal domestic life.

Thanks for dropping by!

  1. Hello,

I just wanted to congratulate you on your blog. It’s really good. you have some wonderful recipes and I’m going to give them a try.

Some friends bought us back a big container (600g) of Gyros Wurzer from Fuchs. From what I can tell it seems to be a mixed herb and spice mix although I have not come across it before. It smells and tastes very good. I will use it in your Fried Chicken dish, using it for the marinade.

Is this a popular spice mix in Germany?

I will see what other uses we might put it to!

    Regards

  2. Hi Ian,

thanks for the compliment. Sorry for this incredibly late response. I totally missed this comment out.

I love Fuchs spices. Previously, I’ve always bought Ostmann but after discovering Fuchs, there’s no turning back. Fuchs is slightly pricier but the spices are definitely of a better grade. The Gyros Würze is exactly what I’ve used. Fantastic meat marinade. An aunt of mine used it to make a wonderful chicken breast salad for us once too. She simply marinated the chicken breast pieces with it and pan fried them. The gyros spice mix is possibly also very good for marinating beef and lamb steaks for the grill.

    Cheerios
